World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 2020

World Breastfeeding Week or WBW is a global campaign to raise awareness and support on breastfeeding. It is officially celebrated every 1st to 7th August every year in commemoration of the 1990 Innocenti Declaration.

WBW started in 1992 and every year it comes with annual themes including women and work, healthcare systems, community support, economy, ecology, science, education and human rights.

Four general objectives of this WBW are:

  • INFORM celebrants about the selected theme of the year
  • ANCHOR the theme within the global breastfeeding agenda
  • ENGAGE with individuals and organisations for greater impact
  • GALVANISE action on the selected theme and related issue

This year’s theme is Support Breastfeeding For A Healthier Planet which links between breastfeeding and planetary health. Let’s read the framework below for our better understanding 🥰

As an Environmental Technology Bachelor Degree graduate, I really loves this year’s theme because it related so much to what I love most, our planet! 🌍

I have breastfeed Harris for 23 months now and my minimum aim is 24 months. Since I know how much my determination for my baby also affects a lot on the environment, my heart is full of gratitude now.

Surely, breastfeeding journey is not just about hardworks. It includes du’as, positiveness, supports and a lot of ups and downs to get through. But believe me, it pays off great!

So mommies, no matter if you are direct breastfeeding your babies or you have to use breastpump or even both, let’s support both breastfeeding and the environment by supporting this World Breastfeeding Week 2020! ❤️

Breastfeeding supporter,
Momma Hana 🌹
